Magnus Ferrell’s birth halted production on his dad Will’s 2005 comedy Kicking & Screaming.

ā€œThat is a true story, I swear!ā€ Magnus, a musician, told E! News on Monday.

Magnus is the eldest of Will’s three sons with wife Viveca Paulin, with Mattias and Axel following.

Very few things in life have the power to halt production on a major studio film — the birth of a star’s first child being one of them.

Magnus Ferrell, Will Ferrell’s eldest son with wife Viveca Paulin, can proudly claim to have been the reason for such an unprecedented interruption, when his mom went into labor while Will was shooting 2005’s Kicking & Screaming.

ā€œKicking & Screaming had to be paused during filming because my mom went into labor with me. Yes. That is a true story, I swear!ā€ Magnus told E! News in a recent interview.

Production on the 2005 sports comedy, costarring Robert Duvall and Kate Walsh, kicked off well over a year before its release that May. Magnus was born on March 7, 2004, meaning shooting kicked off at least 14 months prior.

Will stars in the film as Phil Weston, an unremarkable family man who grew up under the thumb of his domineering dad, Buck (Robert Duvall). Phil and Buck end up facing off as coaches of rival youth soccer teams during a league championship, setting off an escalating series of desperate bids for glory.

Though Kicking & Screaming barely recouped its $45 million budget at the box office and divided critics (with many making comparisons for better and for worse to the same year’s Bad News Bears remake), the film is remembered as a part of Will’s hottest streak as an actor.

A 2003 market report from Variety puts the actor’s busy schedule and immense desirability as a casting prospect into context, pointing out that the success of Old School led to the seven-figure deal for Kicking & Screaming, which would have to wait until after Will completed work on both Elf and Anchorman.

Magnus, meanwhile, initially followed in his father’s footsteps, obtaining a degree in acting from the University of Southern California.

But he has since made waves as a musician, releasing his new single ā€œAsleep Talkingā€ back in April to acclaim — and even a shout-out from Michelle Obama (via his dad) on her IMO Podcast.
