Kalshi gives Bitcoin 83% odds of hitting $100,000 before $50,000, but a separate market prices only a 22% chance of actually touching $100,000 by December.
The $50,000-first crash contract collapsed from 57% to 17% as Bitcoin rebounded 22% from its June low near $58,500.
All three prediction markets converge near $81,000 for Bitcoin's year-end close, precisely matching its 50-week moving average and implying sideways over extremes.

Kalshi's Bitcoin market, which pays if BTC touches $50,000 before $100,000, puts the odds at 17% for the crash and 83% for the recovery. Because traders are risking money on those outcomes, the market offers a more direct read of sentiment than a single analyst target.
Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) trades near $75,600, down about 35% over the past year and 13.5% year to date, but up 20% over the past month. Bitcoin is also down 4% over the past week, with the recovery stalling below $80,000. So which level comes first, $50,000 or $100,000?
Kalshi's Bitcoin Market Has Flipped From Crash to Recovery

Kalshi is a CFTC-regulated prediction market where traders buy contracts tied to real-world outcomes, making each price an implied probability. The Bitcoin contract pays if BTC touches $50,000 before $100,000, while the $100,000 outcome wins if it comes first. If neither level is touched by December 31, 2026, the contract loses.
As of September 14, Kalshi priced the $50,000-first outcome at 17% and the $100,000-first outcome at 83%. A separate market put the odds of Bitcoin touching $100,000 at 7% before October, 22% before December, and 29% before January 2027, while the year-end closing-price market had a consensus near $81,000 across roughly $35 million in open interest.

The shift becomes clearer when compared with the same contract earlier this year. When Bitcoin traded near $58,000 in June, the $50,000-first outcome carried 57% odds, but that fell to 53% in early August and below 26% by mid-August as BTC recovered from its June 30 low of $58,524.
The probability then dropped to 21% in late August, 18% by September 7 and 17% by September 14, leaving the crash odds more than two-thirds below their June level.

Reaching $50,000 Requires More Than One Break

Bitcoin's move to $50,000 would require a 33.9% decline from $75,600, starting with a break below the June 30 low of $58,524 and then the realized price of about $53,600. The realized price represents the average cost basis of the current supply, so a sustained move below it would put the average holder underwater.
The market would need to move closer to the conditions seen at previous cycle bottoms for Bitcoin to reach $50,000. Glassnode found that prior Bitcoin lows occurred with 50% to 55% of supply held at a loss, while the June 2026 low reached only 39% to 43%.
A deeper decline could therefore require a hiking cycle, sustained ETF outflows and a 10-year Treasury yield above 5%. The yield reached 4.95% on September 10, its highest level in the trailing year, leaving a sustained break above 5% as an important signal for the $50,000 case.
Bitcoin Needs to Reclaim Its Uptrend to Reach $100,000

Bitcoin would need to rise 32.3% from $75,600 to reach $100,000, but the bigger issue is whether it can regain the momentum that carried it above $80,000 earlier this month. BTC reached $82,283 on September 3 before closing at $81,264, while attempts on September 5 and 7 failed below $80,500. The next hurdles sit at $82,300, $87,497 and $90,000, with each level marking another test before the six-figure target comes into view.
The prediction markets show that traders still see a meaningful path higher, although they are not pricing $100,000 as the most likely outcome. Polymarket gave Bitcoin a 26% chance of touching $100,000 before January 1, 2027, while Kalshi put the odds of $150,000 at just 6%.
For the rally to regain traction, ETF inflows would likely need to stay near August's $3.5 billion pace, while a lower 10-year Treasury yield would give risk assets another tailwind. The Fed is already providing some support, with the funds rate upper bound at 3.75% and unchanged over the past month.
Which Level Comes First?
Bitcoin reaching $100,000 is more likely than $50,000, but neither outcome looks close enough to be the base case. Kalshi's year-end consensus near $81,000 sits almost exactly at Bitcoin's 50-week moving average, suggesting traders expect the market to spend more time consolidating than moving toward either extreme.
The 83% odds on Bitcoin reaching $100,000 first say more about which level is likely to come first than how likely Bitcoin is to actually reach $100,000, especially since a separate Kalshi market puts the odds of touching $100,000 before January 2027 at just 29%.
A sustained daily close below $75,600 would challenge that view by putting Bitcoin back in the range where reaching $50,000 first carried higher odds than 17% today. If neither level is touched by December 31, 2026, neither side of the binary contract wins, leaving Kalshi's roughly $81,000 year-end closing price as the more useful indication of where traders expect Bitcoin to finish the year.
