Emma Raducanu appears to have pulled out of the China Open, despite her name appearing on the initial entry list released earlier this month.

The British tennis star hasn't competed in a match for three months, with her last appearance being a loss to Donna Vekic in the Queen's Club final. A stress fracture in her leg kept her out of the US Open, adding to a lengthy catalog of physical setbacks she's endured in recent years.

Raducanu is a former US Open champion, having won the Grand Slam as an 18-year-old in 2021. There had been optimism that she would make her return at the China Open, scheduled to begin in late September and run into October. But the 23-year-old seems to have postponed her comeback, with her name quietly disappearing from the tournament's entry list.

Just last week, Raducanu shared video clips from a training session at the National Tennis Centre, showing her working on her serve.

But without a hitting partner on the other side of the net, the footage suggested she's still in the early stages of recovery from her latest injury.

With her withdrawal from the China Open now apparent, questions remain about when Raducanu will make her competitive return.

Her world ranking has dropped to 96th in another setback, a sharp decline from being comfortably positioned inside the top 40 just months earlier.

Several tennis experts have speculated that Raducanu might face a prolonged spell on the sidelines, with Andy Roddick being one of the voices weighing in on her ongoing absence.

Speaking on his podcast, Roddick said: "We might not even see her for the rest of this year.

"It just stinks because she is so good, and it's just the stop and start of things.

"You can't get around a stress fracture, that's not a pain tolerance thing at all. It has to heal, or you are going to cause extreme long-term damage. It just stinks.

"She could be such a bright spot for the Tours, and it just seems like there are speed bumps all the time, which is just unfortunate.

"It sucks. I hope she gets better. She was playing great at Queen's too, like she was going to blow the roof off of Wimbledon.

"She is so good and so injured all the time.

"It's got to be kind of depressing for her, too. I keep thinking we are going to get six months where we are going to be able to go and play and do all the things, and we are just not able to get it, which is unfortunate."
