Today was a big day for the Netherlands. Locals came together to celebrate Prinsjesdag (Prince’s Day) in The Hague, which marks the traditional opening of the new parliamentary year. And there to honor the occasion was the Dutch royal family.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima were joined by their three daughters—Princess Catharina-Amalia, Princess Alexia, and Princess Ariane—who attended the traditional ceremony together for the first time, and in coordinating jewel tones fit for royalty.

Catharina-Amalia, 22, (the heir apparent to the throne of the Kingdom of the Netherlands) was lovely in a mustard-yellow gown with a flowy cape sleeve, plus a matching headband and pointy tan pumps. Her golden-blonde hair was styled in silky waves.

Alexia, 21, took a cue from her older sister as she debuted a satin dress in a rich forest green, with a cowl neck and a cape that trailed behind her. Maroon accents—a hat, gloves, a pouch bag, and suede heels—complemented the dress nicely, pulling the look straight into a spectrum of cozy fall hues.

Ariane, 19, followed in Alexia’s lead, slipping into a burgundy gown with a crystal-studded detail at the chest, plus matching leather gloves, a hair bow, and a clutch.

The king and queen, meanwhile, coordinated in elegant black-and-white ensembles.

The princesses wore their royal sashes as they joined their parents on the balcony of Noordeinde Palace (Paleis Noordeinde) to wave to the crowds. The family appearance came after the king addressed the Senate and the House of Representatives, setting out the government policy for the parliamentary session.
