In a past interview, Swift has opened up about how her hair has changed with age

This is not Taylor Swift's first rodeo with curls.

The Grammy winner, 36, is releasing a new single for Toy Story 5that was announced on Monday, June 1, and in the cover art for the song, she welcomes back her natural hair texture in an unexpected beauty move.

In recent years, the "Opalite" singer has worn her blonde hair long and straight, but the new photo shows her rocking a textured banged hairstyle with a boho-Western look.

One of the last times the Grammy winner was seen with her golden ringlets was in 2024 during a night out in Sydney with pal Sabrina Carpenter. That night, she let her mane loose while rocking a casual-chic going-out 'fit. She also reintroduced the old-school look earlier that year while supporting now-fiancéTravis Kelce at one of his football games.

Fans will largely associate Swift's natural hair with her early career as it appeared on the covers of her first few albums, including 2006's Taylor Swift, 2008's Fearless and 2010's Speak Now.

In a feature for Elle in celebration of her 30th birthday, Swift talked about the changes that happened to her locks over the years. "I learned that your hair can completely change texture," she wrote. "From birth, I had the curliest hair and now it is STRAIGHT. It’s the straight hair I wished for every day in junior high. But just as I was coming to terms with loving my curls, they’ve left me. Please pray for their safe return."

Swift revealed her new musical release alongside a countdown that appeared on her official website. It featured Jessie from the film dancing on a roof and a billboard identical to the ones that have been popping up in multiple cities, featuring only the letters “TS” alongside 13 fluffy white clouds.

"It's a Toy Story 🤠," she wrote in the caption. "You knew it! My new original song 'I Knew It, I Knew You' for Disney and @pixar's @toystory 5 will be yours on June 5th. I've always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I've adored since I was a 5 year old kid watching the first Toy Story movie."

"I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening. Sometimes you just know, right?," she continued.

"I Knew It, I Knew You" is available for pre-order now exclusively on Swift's website site with Toy Story 5 releasing in theaters June 19.
