On Sunday, April 5, Taylor Frankie Paul shared emotional texts and Bible passages on Instagram, reflecting on her struggles over the past 40 days
The video was shared amid Paul's ongoing legal issues, including a domestic violence investigation and custody battle with her ex, Dakota Mortensen
"The last 40 days felt like hell on earth," Paul wrote on Instagram as she reflected on moving away from her Mormon faith
Taylor Frankie Paul is getting candid about her feelings over the past few weeks amid allegations of a domestic violence incident involving her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen.
On Sunday, April 5, the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star, 31, admitted in an Instagram Reel that the “last 40 days felt like hell on earth” as she reflected on the Easter holiday, while sharing personal texts and Bible passages.
“He has risen and he is real. I got chills today when I realized it's been 40 days exactly today in this frantic state,” Paul wrote over a selfie included in the clip, in which she appeared to get emotional to the song “Overcome” by Skott.
Paul then shared a screenshot of a supportive text saying, “You’re going to make it through,” along with a photo of a handwritten note that said, “I trust in God my savior. The one who will never fail.” Several Bible passages annotated by Paul were also shared.
The reality star mentioned having “panic attacks” and being "in so much pain" in another handwritten note. She was seen in other photos appearing teary-eyed, breaking out in spots, and crouching over a toilet. A pile of pain relief patches, Deep Blue Rub topical cream and Magnesium were also seen on a counter in another still.
Another text posted read, “Call me,” with the response, “I will in a bit. I’m in a panic [right now].” Another text read, “It sucks, but being on the other side of it is the best gift,” with the response, “I can’t do this …”
Paul wrote in the post's caption, “Through every panic attack, I prayed for strength as I could feel my body breaking down and out from the distress of it all. And HE sent just that in various ways … especially during our lowest points.”
The candid video comes weeks after ABC canceled Paul’s already-filmed season of The Bachelorette after TMZ released a 2023 video showing her throwing chairs at Mortensen, 33, in front of her daughter. Taylor was arrested for alleged domestic violence at the time and pleaded guilty in abeyance to aggravated assault.

Taylor shares her two eldest children, daughter Indy, 8, and son Ocean, 5, with her ex-husband, Tate Paul. She shares her son Ever, 2, with Mortensen.
PEOPLE previously reported that Mortensen was granted temporary custody of their son Ever after Mortensen filed against Paul on March 19.
In February, two Utah police departments opened independent domestic violence investigations involving Paul and Mortensen. On March 16, the Draper City Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE that there was an ongoing "domestic assault investigation" involving the pair.
Paul's rep told PEOPLE that the 2023 video "conveniently omits context" and called its release a "reprehensible attempt [by Mortensen] to distract from his own behavior."
Mortensen responded in a statement to PEOPLE, writing, "As anyone who has seen the video will understand, this is a deeply upsetting situation. I am, unfortunately, used to these baseless claims about me and our relationship, which I categorically deny. I am focusing on our son and his safety, and hope that Taylor will do the same."

In a post shared on her Instagram Stories on Sunday, Paul thanked those who have supported her during the difficult time as she reflected on moving away from her faith.
“Born and raised Mormon (Ids) and I'll always have love and respect towards it. I'll even continue to go with my family at times, with that being said, it's time to detach myself from it,” she wrote. “...I believe we are loved whether we are praying in church … or… at home. I've also experienced grace and love from amazing people that aren't sure what they believe if at all and that's okay too…”
