Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially set a record for the top box office opening weekend of all time, besting 2019’s Avengers: Endgame

The sequel stars Tom Holland as Spider-Man, plus Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Sadie Sink and more

The movie has made nearly $1 billion in just three days since it opened in theaters on Friday, July 31

Tom Holland, Zendaya and the rest of the team behind Spider-Man: Brand New Day are celebrating an all-time record at the box office.

Brand New Day surpassed 2019’s Avengers: Endgame when final numbers came in on Monday, Aug. 3, giving Holland’s fourth Spider-Man solo entry the all-time opening weekend record at the domestic box office with a total of $360 million grossed in North America, according to multipleoutlets. Brand New Day was estimated to have grossed $355 million on Sunday, but the film came in higher than earlier reporting.

Endgame, which Holland also appeared in as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, made $357 million at the domestic box office in its opening weekend, without adjusting for inflation.

The new Spider-Man movie — the first live-action installment in the franchise since 2021’s No Way Home — has already made $932 million globally and could continue to grow into the highest-grossing movie of this year, as multiple outlets reported. No Way Home, for comparison, made $260 million in its opening weekend in North America and ultimately made $1.9 billion worldwide.

In the Destin Daniel Cretton-directed Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Holland leads a cast that includes franchise regulars Zendaya, 29, and Jacob Batalon and Sadie Sink. The movie follows Peter Parker as he largely operates solo as Spider-Man while his former best friends Ned (Batalon, 29) and M.J. (Zendaya) finish college at MIT. After they graduate and return to New York City, Peter drifts back into their orbit as he and allies — including the Punisher (Jon Bernthal) and Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) — confront a mysterious, nearly invisible threat that only Peter seems able to sense.
