- Seth Rogen gives a small (hopeful) update to ** on his long-gestating Figment movie.
- The actor tells us that he was “producing” the film as an adaptation of the beloved Disney World ride starring the fan-favorite purple dragon.
- Rogen’s film was first revealed in 2022, and his comments to EW mark the first time he’s spoken about it since.
All Seth Rogen needs to complete his long-awaited Figment movie is one little spark of inspiration.
For the first time since the project was revealed in 2022, the Hollywood star exclusively gives ** an update on his long-gestating, secretive movie adaptation of the beloved Disney World character who’s fronted his very own Epcot ride since 1983.
“I wasn’t gonna star in it, we were producing it,” Rogen tells EW during an interview for his Toronto International Film Festival-premiering movie *Babies*.**
When asked where things stand on the long-awaited project, Rogen teases with a laugh, “Um, let me get back to you on that. Let me kick the tires on that one!”
The 44-year-old *Studio* and *Pineapple Express* actor agrees that he needs to revive working on the highly anticipated movie, and ends his remarks by laughing through another hopeful tease: “I can’t tell you anything!”
EW has reached out to Disney representatives for more information on the studio’s upcoming Figment movie with Rogen.

Why Disney World’s Beastly Kingdom area didn’t happen — and how ‘Avatar’ took its place
First unveiled in 2022, the Figment movie would be the first feature-length adaptation of the beloved Disney World ride, currently titled Journey Into Imagination With Figment. The ride first opened shortly after Epcot’s grand opening at the Orlando-based theme park, and has undergone several overhauls since its first iteration.
Designed by legendary Disney Imagineer Tony Baxter, the ride initially opened as a trippy adventure through matters of the mind. The attraction centered around a man named the Dreamfinder, who rode an aircraft through the sky alongside a figment of his imagination, a purple dragon appropriately named Figment.
From there, the Dreamfinder and Figment took guests through various scenes inspired by the dreams he collected. In 1999, a revamped version of the ride opened, titled Journey Into Your Imagination, and included new scenes filmed with actor Eric Idle. That version proved to be unpopular with guests, and closed in 2001 to make way for the current version that operates today (and stars Idle) — just without the Dreamfinder character.

Disney shocked fans at the D23 convention in August, when it announced that the Dreamfinder would return to the ride in the near future. The company ended its theme park news presentation at the Honda Center arena in Anaheim, Calif., by bringing out host Neil Patrick Harris dressed in Dreamfinder garb and holding a small Figment plush.

“We are taking a new journey into imagination at Epcot with Dreamfinder and Figment!” Disney Experiences Chairman Thomas Mazloum said on stage at the event. “I’m so happy to share this news tonight. We know how important this is to you. We’ve heard you, and this is one more way we’re putting you in the center of everything we do.”
When it releases, the Figment film will be the latest in Disney’s growing line of movies based on its theme park attractions and lands. To date, the studio has released multiple projects based on rides, shows, and entire themed lands, including *Mission to Mars,* *Country Bears*, the *Pirates of the Caribbean *blockbuster series, two *Haunted Mansion* movies, and *Tomorrowland*.
