Gossip blogger Perez Hilton is celebrating a major milestone on his road to recovery after surviving a life-threatening infection.

On Tuesday, the controversial media personality (real name: Mario Lavandeira Jr.) shared an Instagram video that sees him slowly making his way around a room while using a walker. He captioned the clip, "I can finally walk again."

The hopeful update comes two weeks after Hilton revealed he'd been hospitalized for 21 days for severe sepsis. In the lengthy video caption, Hilton shared a few more details about his health status, including the painful experience he had while taking his first steps since the medical scare.

"Just a few days ago I had to be admitted again with a deep vein thrombosis on my right leg," Hilton wrote, detailing the aftermath of his 21-day hospitalization. "On Friday, my cardiovascular surgeon removed the most MASSIVE, fully occluded blood clot—it went from my groin to just below my calf. Hours after my thrombectomy, my doc came to visit me and said he wanted me to walk."

Hilton explained that the physician wanted to get him moving, as he was concerned "about blood coagulating" which would only worsen the problem.

"So I walked, and it was the most excruciating pain of my life," Hilton wrote. "I was discharged Saturday and had to cancel the beautiful Easter Sunday I had planned, because I was hurting that badly."

That said, the blogger noted that he is grateful to finally be back on his feet. "Thank GOD that I can finally walk again—slowly," he wrote. "And, though the pain is still very pronounced, I can tolerate it—and do this all without meds. Amen!! Every day will get easier and I will get stronger!!! And so it shall be!"

In March, Hilton revealed that his serious health crisis began with a regular case of the flu.

"My stupidity landed me in the hospital for 21 days, and it was the worst and best thing that’s ever happened to me," he began the lengthy video. He went on to explain that he was battling the flu for a week, but was taking his medication without food, which he had been advised against doing.

Unbeknownst to Hilton, he had developed an ulcer, which progressed to a perforation in his stomach, and then sepsis, a condition in which the body responds to extreme infection.

"The day before I was hospitalized, I was in so much stomach pain. I was like, 'This is weird, but it’ll go away,'" he recalled. "The next morning, I couldn’t walk. I had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital."

In the aftermath of his hospital stay, Hilton opened up about undergoing a religious transformation and also offered a public apology for his "selfish" behavior as a blogger.

"I made a lot of mistakes in my past. We all have. Nobody's perfect," Hilton said in an April 2 video. "But my mistakes are very public. The internet is forever. Receipts are forever. I carry with me deep shame and regret. I'm sorry, I will continue to apologize. I have also reached out to make amends. I have apologized publicly and privately to dozens of people."

Hilton cemented himself as a controversial figure during his rise to fame as a tabloid blogger in the early aughts. Over the years, he has been slammed as "cruel" by some stars and criticized by the LGBTQ+ community for outing queer celebrities.

In his apology, Hilton continued, "I was so selfish, because I didn't care who I hurt, I just cared about the views, the attention, the money — people hated me. Some people enjoyed it, but it felt like most people hated me."

The blogger concluded that he's now "doing things differently than before" after his medical scare.
