Patriots fans will love A.J. Brown's reason for picking No. 1 jersey
A.J. Brown chose the No. 1 jersey out of respect for New England Patriots legend Julian Edelman, according to ESPN's Mike Reiss.
The three-time All-Pro wide receiver grew up a fan of the Patriots and Edelman. Despite being granted Edelman's blessing to wear the No. 11 jersey, Brown instead chose to wear the same number that he wore in college for his first year with the Patriots.
Edelman once gifted Brown an autographed Patriots jersey. The star wide receiver also appeared on Edelman and Rob Gronkowski's Dudes on Dudes podcast back in February, when he teased the idea of playing for the Patriots. Things have come full circle with Brown being traded to New England on Monday.
The Patriots traded a 2028 first-round draft pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for Brown.

They are hopeful that he can emerge as the new No. 1 receiving target for third-year quarterback Drake Maye. He has surpassed 1,000 yards receiving for the last four straight seasons, and he'll be joining a roster with one of the deepest receiving rooms in the league.
It looks like a slam dunk move on paper.
