Jordan took home the Oscar for Best Actor in March for his multifaceted work in *Sinners*, beating out the likes of Timothée Chalamet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ethan Hawke, and Wagner Moura in the category. The *Black Panther* star said that he got ill the day after the ceremony.
“Like, you reached the finish line, and your body said, ‘Alright, I got you here, time to shut down for a second,’” he explained, noting that old friends visited from out of town to celebrate his victory. “They’re ordering food, talking, laughing about the night, telling stories, just reliving it all.”
Jordan also reflected on whether or not he could have been satisfied as a working actor instead of a leading man. “I don’t know. My competitiveness — I don’t know,” he said. “I don’t think so. Whatever I wanted to do in life, I wanted to be competitive at, and I wanted to be mentioned amongst the greats.”

The *Just Mercy* star’s next movie is the third *Thomas Crown Affair* film to date. The story originated with the 1968 film starring Steve McQueen as a millionaire who orchestrates a bank robbery and falls in love with the investigator handling the case, played by Faye Dunaway. The film was remade in 1999 with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo, updating the title character’s crime of choice to art heist rather than bank robbery — a detail that Jordan is using in his version as well.

However, while previous Thomas Crowns have acted out of sheer boredom, Jordan promises that his version of the character has a more righteous motivation for his actions.
“I don’t think a billionaire, or a millionaire, just doing s--- for fun, right now, is something that people want to see,” the actor said.
Adria Arjona is set to star as Jordan’s love interest in the film, while Kenneth Branagh is portraying the primary villain. Lily Gladstone and Jordan’s *Black Panther* costar Danai Gurira will also appear in the film.

Branagh shared his perspective on Jordan in the *Vogue* story. “He seemed pretty serious about his work, but also quite twinkly,” the *Murder on the Orient Express* star said. “Mischievous, rather cheeky, rather playful.”
He added, “He is someone who has a very sharp mind…but he thinks physically.”
*The Thomas Crown Affair *releases on March 5, 2027.
