Method Man was recently absent from the Australian leg of Wu-Tang Clan’s farewell tour, leaving fans to wonder if he had already said goodbye to the hip-hop group.

The rapper set the record straight in an Instagram Live video on April 4, days after he missed concerts in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney.

“Before we even went on the overseas tour, I wasn’t going,” Method Man said to begin the six-minute stream. “I said I wasn’t going. I said I was booked, I have other things I have to do.”

As Method Man explained, he has broadened his scope beyond music into acting, and it turns out, “I really like this s---.” He has appeared in numerous movies, including 2019's Samuel L. Jackson-starring *Shaft*, and starred in 50 Cent-produced drama series *Power Book II: Ghost* alongside Mary J. Blige.

Often, however, when Wu-Tang organizes “all these tours and things,” he said, “nobody takes into consideration my schedule.” He said that was the case with the trio of late-March shows in Australia as part of *Wu-Tang Forever: The Final Chamber*, advertised as featuring "all living members" of the Grammy-nominated group.

“I’m looking at this s---, like, they know that I haven’t agreed to go on the tour yet,” he reiterated. “This is promoters, overzealous promoters and s---… and they knew this before we even left for the tour.”

This is at least the second time “this has happened,” Method Man said, so he wanted to clear up any confusion since he had received "flak" for his absence in Australia.  (For the record, Raekwon, Cappadonna, and Young Dirty Bastard, who took the place of his late father, Ol' Dirty Bastard, in the group, also didn’t perform Down Under.)

“You guys have to somehow know... while you’re blaming the artists who should show up by the way, especially if they say they are, you guys have to look at the promoters sometimes,” he explained. “Because sometimes the promoters are privy to this information, but don’t want to give out this information, you know? They’ll wait for the ticket sales, and then they’ll make an announcement close to the date, which I don’t think is fair.”
