Iowa voters have cast ballots ahead of the November midterm elections.

Winners of the Tuesday, June 2, elections head to November elections as President Donald Trump and Republicans look to maintain a hold of Congress in the fall. In a packed roster of races, the state has open races for governor and U.S. Senate, and it will see two of its four U.S. House races heavily targeted as pickup opportunities for Democrats.

The governor’s race in particular has unsettled Republicans as they fought out a divisive five-way primary race to go head-to-head this fall with well-funded Democratic state Auditor Rob Sand.

Here are the results to know from Iowa's primary ahead of the November midterms, according to the and CNN.

Iowa governor primary results

Iowa's governor's race is wide open after incumbent Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds announced she would not seek reelection in 2026, reports the Des Moines Register, part of the USA TODAY Network.

Republican: Zach Lahn (37.8% of votes) won with an estimated 99% of votes counted. He defeated Rep. Randy Feenstra, who ended with 37% of votes and was endorsed by President Donald Trump. Feenstra conceded the race Tuesday evening, according to the Des Moines Register, part of the USA TODAY Network.

Democrat: Rob Sand won the race uncontested.

Iowa Senate primary results

The Iowa Senate primary will select candidates from both parties to be on the November ballot. The winner in the fall election will replace Republican Sen. Joni Ernst, who announced she is not seeking reelection in September 2025.

In a year when the party's voters are looking for someone who can win a tough election and stand up to President Donald Trump's administration, Democratic candidates emphasized their ability to take on Republican frontrunner U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson.

Republican: Ashley Hinson (74.2% of votes) defeated Jim Carlin (25.9% of votes) with an estimated 99% of votes counted.

Democrat: Josh Turek (62.6% of votes) defeated Zach Wahls (37.4% of votes) with an estimated 99% of votes counted.
