Elon Musk’s ex and the mother of one of his children, influencer Ashley St. Clair, has alleged that the controversial Tesla head and political force is angling to reproduce ahead of what he predicted to be a future “civil war.”

St. Clair, a former conservative social media personality who mothered a baby with Musk in 2024, alleges in Oscar-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney’s new documentary *Musk* (which ** viewed Monday afternoon at the Toronto International Film Festival) that the 55-year-old encouraged her to have children as they began their early courtship.

The 28-year-old recalls in the nearly four-hour documentary (out Oct. 9) that she was apprehensive about being a “baby mama” for the polarizing figure, and discusses the multiple children he’s had with other women, including pop star Grimes and ex-wife Justine Musk — the latter of whom also sat for an interview that Gibney plays throughout *Musk*.

The influencer goes on to compare Musk’s actions to a “Gatling gun of sperm in his DMs,” alleging that he interacts with numerous women, which sometimes leads to procreation.

*Musk* includes this information in a chapter called “Legion,” in which St. Clair and others discuss Musk’s fatherhood. St. Clair alleges that Musk told her he wanted to create a “legion of children” before a future “civil war.”

Following the birth of their child, Romulus, in 2024, St. Clair also alleges that she declined to sign a non-disclosure agreement she felt was wrapped up in a child support negotiation when the pair broke up.

EW* *has reached out to Musk’s legal representative and his team at Tesla for comment.

St. Clair previously opened up about allegedly declining a $40 million non-disclosure agreement ahead of appearing in *Musk, *telling reporters at the film’s Venice Film Festival premiere: “When you’re offered something like that, it really causes a debate in your head about what your speech means and how valuable that is, and why do they want to offer me this amount of money to not speak?” (Musk has pushed back on St. Clair’s claim, writing on X that “She was never offered that.”)

“I believe Alex spoke to it a little bit, about Elon’s unreality,” she added at the premiere. “He does have complicated relationships generally, but his most complicated relationship is with the truth. And so I think, most importantly, I want to set the example for my kids that you should never take being materially comfortable over speaking the truth.”

*Musk*’s titular subject has called Gibney’s film “a hit piece” on his X platform (formerly known as Twitter), though Gibney maintained that Musk still hasn’t seen the film.

At the movie’s TIFF premiere, Gibney, 72, shut down an audience member who asked the filmmaker if he’d rather live in a world “without the accomplishments of Elon Musk,” after sitting through the highly critical documentary.

Gibney laughed before replying, “Well, first of all, I kind of question the phrase, ‘the accomplishments of Elon Musk,’” before continuing with his response.

“Tesla was not founded by Elon Musk. He wasn’t the key inventor. SpaceX also was founded by a lot of powerful and important engineers,” Gibney remarked, nodding to Tesla co-founders Marc Tarpenning and Martin Eberhard — the latter of whom sat for an interview in *Musk*.

Gibney earlier began a post-screening Q&A by telling the audience that Musk “threatened to sue us” over the film: “So, that should give you some sense of how much — at least so far — the free speech absolutist is encouraging speech that he doesn’t like.”

Outside of featuring real-world footage and interviews from those who either knew the subject or have covered him extensively through reporting,* Musk* uses artificial intelligence to create an on-camera interview with the titular figure, who declined to participate in the film.

The movie outlines his early childhood in South Africa (complete with an interview with his father, Errol Musk), and covers Musk overtaking Tesla and the acquisition of Twitter. It also probes into his SpaceX rocket endeavors, the impact his businesses have on the environment, and his controversial involvement in the 2024 presidential election cycle, as many believe he helped swing the election that year to Donald Trump.

*Musk* is in theaters Oct. 9.
