Alan Ritchson’s Divorce Story Is More Complicated Than It Seemed

Alan Ritchson and Catherine Ritchson’s marriage is ending after 20 years, but the latest announcement did not come out of nowhere. The Reacher star filed for divorce in December 2025, months before the couple reconciled in March. They ultimately decided to end their marriage and are now moving forward while continuing to raise their three children together.

Court records show that Alan, 43, filed to dissolve his marriage to Catherine on December 1, 2025, with TMZ first reporting the divorce filing. The couple reconciled in March, but ultimately decided to end their marriage.
On Saturday, September 12, Alan and Catherine shared a joint statement on Instagram announcing their split.
“After 20 years together, Cat and I have decided to end our marriage and continue alongside one another in a different way,” they wrote.

The couple also reflected on the life they built together. “We grew up together, we built a life and a family together.” They added, “We are raising three incredible boys, who will always be the center of our world. Nothing can diminish what these years have meant to us — or the love and respect we will always share. The best gift we can give one another — and our boys — right now is friendship, grace and commitment to becoming the strongest coparents we can be.”
They further said their goal was to “give each other room to grow into the people [they were] becoming.” They also asked the public to respect their family’s privacy during the transition, adding, “Change is hard enough without the whole world weighing in.”
Alan and Catherine first met as teenagers in a ballet class and later reconnected through a mutual friend. They married in 2006 and have three children together.
